The New Boy and The Newsreader lead AACTA 2024 award nominations

They are Australia's answer to the Golden Globes.

The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards has revealed its full list of nominees for this year's awards ceremony.

Australian films The New Boy and Talk to Me lead the nominations, with newcomer Aswan Reid earning a nod for best actor for his title role in The New Boy.

Cate Blanchett has also received a nomination for her role as a religious sister in The New Boy.

In the television category, ABC's The Newsreader leads the field with 15 nominations, followed by The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart with 12.

Comedy series Colin from Accounts and crime drama Deadloch both secured 10 nominations.

Sigourney Weaver is in the running for best lead actress in a drama for The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, which received 12 nominations including best miniseries.

Meanwhile, late comedian Cal Wilson has been recognised at the awards with a nomination.

The performer, who passed away after a short battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer in October, has been nominated in the Best Comedy Performer award for her work on The Great Australian Bake Off.
